Reflection on “AMAL TOTKAY”
Today, I am going to explore Growth mindset. Individuals having growth mindset believes that talents can be established if they are not innate. Those people always want to acquire new knowledge and embrace the challenges by hard work and dedication. Even if they have talent, they practice it a lot to be perfect. On the other side, people having fixed mindset just stick to their innate behavior. To be a successful leader, the person should have the growth mindset.
“Every artist was first an amateur.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Here at Amal Fellowship, we got a chance to unwrap the Amal Growth Mindset Toolkit. Following are included in it. Additionally, the examples are given from my personal life.
1. SELF-TALK:
It means Do-it-Yourself. Self-talk can be both negative and positive. For having a growth mindset, it should be positive because you are likely to believe it in your life. To trust yourself that you can do it anyway. It could be motivation for yourself to be a good learner.
“Positive self-talk is to emotional pain as pain pill is to physical pain.” — Edmond Mbiaka
Example: Once when I got fail in a subject, I said to myself that there’s always a room for improvement. I will overcome this situation and will get pass in this subject.
2. CREATE NEW HABITS:
To advance the fixed mindset into growth mindset, you have to create new habits. When you create a habit of curiosity for learning, you will improve because Practice makes a man perfect. Make a habit of journaling your daily basis works and triumphs for a better mindset.
Example: I was really an introvert and nervous person. After getting admission to medical college, I made a habit of learning and increase my confidence. I started joining different organizations.
3. ASK PEOPLE TO HELP:
Taking and accepting feedback from people is imperative for growth mindset. Ask your near ones or your colleagues if you’re doing good what you do. Implement the change according to their advice either it is positive advice or a criticism,
Example: I always take feedback from some of my friends and specially teachers. One of my mentor helped me a lot in refining my personality.
4. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE:
Comfort zone is the place where you feel innocuous. The real magic begins when you come out of your comfort zone. To think out of the box. Always accept challenges and win the situation without the ease.
Example: Being an unconfident person, it was really problematic for me to speak overtly. I participated in a meeting of an organization first time that was getting out of my comfort zone. It settled a poise in me.
5. FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT:
Try to act it out until you adapt the growth mindset to get rid of the self-doubt. This Totka is my favorite one. When you show someone that you are confident and capable enough, they start to believe you. And you start to develop it in yourself. You were actually practicing unconsciously and you will become habitual. I will try to fake it to progress a growth mindset.
